2D 3D DESIGN 8TH GRADE

In 2D 3D Design, students begin with building pinhole cameras and learning about how optics works with a camera obscura. Students develop photos from non-toxic chemicals and construct a pop-up dark room. Then, we move into digital photography and use images to tell a story. Students gather many images from the community. We walk around together and help one another see things in different perspectives. After editing a series of photos using Pixlr or Photoshop, students finalize the images by printing or using image transfer techniques. A critique follows and students give each other feedback. The final project ranges from designing new type of seating for Lake Merritt, creating a brand and developing a website, or designing a solution to one of the school's needs.
